Members of the Livingston County Sheriff Department instruct the
Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Safe Boater Classes. These classes
are designed to provide boating safety certificates to individuals who are at
least 12 years old. However many insurance companies provide a discount to
their policy holders if all members of the family (including adults) have
receive instruction and obtain their certificate. ADULTS Boating safety classes are designed for the new boater however life long and very knowledgeable boaters have taken our class and have walked away learning a thing or two and have shared their experiences with the class. All Boating Safety classes are scheduled through one of the Community Education programs here in Livingston County. Check with the the appropriate Community Education for availability and for any fees. We provide the instructor and all materials, free of charge. However, The Community Education buildings do charge a nominal room use fee. Please check with the appropriate Community Education center to reserve your seat in the next class. We will conduct a class for your Lake Association, Civic group or other organization provided there is sufficient class size (generally a minimum of 15 students). You will will be required to schedule the class and provide the meeting place, We will provide the instructor and materials. If your organization is interested please contact Sgt.
